Although Edward Burtynsky’s panoramic photographs on manufactured landscapes are similar to the work of Andreas Gursky, he still manages to create an aura of beautiful individuality flattened by environments ruled by unitary precision.Paris-Beijing Photo Gallery (8459 9263)

Italian-born artists Berlingeri and Rabarama explore their own art languages with the form of sculpture. By folding different materials-mainly textiles-Berlingeri creates shapes and the shadows of the folds of her works, while Rabarama traces untouchable light, reshaping it into a tangible work.
Jorg Immendorff and Ren Rong

German-based Chinese artist Ren, born to a military family in Nanjing, incorporates Chinese seal characters, paper cuts, shadow puppets, and almost anything ìChineseî into the compositional structures of his works. German master Jorg Immendorff is an artist who used his neo-expressionist/surrealist visual style to portray political developments in Germany, and was a heavy influence on Ren. Another East-West dialogue, or just single-sided Orientalist imagery? Gallery TN (5978 9757)

Shirin Neshat: Women Without Men

Neshat, an Iranian woman who has spent most of her life in exile in the US, presents us with a beautiful, eye-opening series of five films that seek to expose the fundamental human problems in contemporary Islamic culture. In five parallel sequences, Shirin Neshat portrays the lives of five Iranian women in 1953, the year that the democratically elected prime minister was removed in a coup d'etat mounted by American and British forces. The films are presented in Farsi without translation, which, while obscuring some of the content, replicates for the viewer the challenge of making sense of a foreign sensibility without all the facts.Faurschou Beijing (5978 9316)

Let’s imagine for a minute a possible scenario: What if there was a man or a woman who decided one day to throw away his/her heart? What if he/she decided to sell his heart at a very cheap price? Sell it to the first guy that came around collecting rubbish for recycling? Off goes the heart, as the garbage collector tosses it on to his three-wheeled bicycle. And takes the heart away….
